PRESS RELEASE
July 1, 1999 - Paramus, NJ:  Congregation K'hal Adath Jeshurun of Paramus (KAJP) is honored to announce the appointment of Rabbi Zvi Sobolofsky as its Rabbi. Rabbi Sobolofsky follows a line of distinguished Rabbis who have served our community, including: Rabbi Herschel Schachter, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva University's Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (YU-RIETS); Rabbi Yechezkel Zweig, Principal of Baltimore's Bais Yaakov High School for Girls; and Rabbi Mordechai Kuber, Kashrus Administrator for the Orthodox Union (OU). Rabbi Kuber recently made aliyah and continues his work in kashrus for the OU in Israel.
Rabbi Zvi & Mrs. Efrat Sobolofsky and their two children currently live in Washington Heights where they serve as active mentors for the young Orthodox couples and families who live in the YU-Washington Heights campus community. He is a Magid Shiur (Talmudic Lecturer) in YU's Stone Beis Medrash Program and a professor at Stern College for Women. He lectures on various Jewish themes throughout the tri-state area - most recently for the OU, and as a member of a Kollel (Learning Program) in Teaneck, New Jersey. In addition, Rabbi Sobolofsky has published a sefer (book) on Maseches Bechoros, a tractate of the Talmud, and his lectures are published on the Internet. This summer, he is coordinating a Talmudic Learning program in Los Angeles, CA. Mrs. Sobolofsky is the social work coordinator at the UJA Association for the Developmental Disabilities Respite Program in River Edge, New Jersey.
The Sobolofskys are expected to be in Paramus in time for Rosh Hashana.
KAJP, founded as an Orthodox synagogue in 1978, conducts daily services in the morning and evenings. Shiurim (lectures) are given on a regular basis. A Nursery School is on premises, an Eruv surrounds the community, a Mikvah project is in progress and an internet website is under construction. The Paramus Jewish community is uniquely situated at the crossroads of Bergen County, between Teaneck and Fairlawn, and between Passaic and Monsey with real estate taxes as much as 50% less than it's neighboring communities. Various Yeshivas are available in the community for school-age children.
